Severstal’s acquisition of Sparrow’s Point

Gerdau SA Q1 2008 earnings

Gerdau SA announced Q1 2008 earnings yesterday. EBITDA per ton was $203, up from an average of $170 in 2007. This is the best EBITDA per ton so far among the companies tracked in the Nerds of Steel earnings spreadsheet.

Ternium Q1 2008 financial results

US Steel Q1 earnings

Today US Steel reported first quarter 2008 financial results. EBITDA per ton was $62, which is up from Q4 2007 but down from the 2007 average of $78.
